Students needing physical therapy services have two options:
Option 1: University of Chicago Hospital Physical Therapy
Students may receive physical therapy services from the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Chicago Hospital. University of Chicago Hospital physical therapy is appropriate for students with acute needs, but cannot accommodate students needing long-term treatment. Your health care provider will determine whether these therapy services are appropriate. Appointments are available on a limited basis. Once capacity is reached, students have the option to wait until space is available or receive therapy services under their health insurance with another provider.
Option 2: Other physical therapy provider
Students may elect to receive physical therapy services from outside providers. These services will be billed to the student and their health insurance plan. Depending on the student's coverage they will be responsible for all or part of these charges. Patients should discuss seeking an outside provider with their insurance carrier.
